    • 04.03.2009 The Sharktank is profiled on Jamie Greer's Musically Speaking Blog

Over the years, one man's name has continually been at the forefront for serious music makers in Windsor - Mark Plancke. His reputation has preceded him as he is time and time again the go-to man for many of Windsor's most serious acts. When former Big Sugar member Kelly "Mr. Chill" Hoppe was looking to record his new act's record, he turned to Plancke to handle the boards for Mr. Chill & The Witnesses' debut, Cold Testament. So impressed with the work, another Big Sugar co-hort, co-songwriter Patrick Ballantyne recorded his self-titled 2008 release at the Shark Tank as well. His attention to detail and bringing out the very best in his clients, Plancke has worked with a veritible who's-who of Windsor's musical elite over the years, from Jimmy Bronco to Citywide Vacuum, from Anneke's Star to Grand Marais, with each release sounding as unqiue as the individuals responsible, but unified by the distinctive professionalism that you can only get at the Shark Tank.

    • 03.25.2009 Critial Track support here at the tank.

We know how hard it is to capture a great performance let alone worrying about technical things while you're being creative. Drums and Vocals; these two things more than any other determine how your project will sound and they are the most difficult tracks to capture. Why not come to the Tank for your drum tracking and vocal overdubs needs. We've got a killer selection of mics and pre's not too mention top of the line Apogee converters. Give your project that big polished sound that will make you stand out.
    • 03.21.2009 The first review is in on the GOLDEN EAGLES debut release.

From Jamie Greer's MUSICALLY SPEAKING blog

I recently received an advance copy of their CD, entitled simply The Golden Eagles, and all I can say is, I can't wait for the summer. This is a record full of great fun rock and roll with enough hooks to keep your head a rockin' while cruising down Riverside Drive. Recorded locally with Mark Plancke at The Shark Tank, The Golden Eagles have struck gold with the first surefire hit release of what promises to be a very exciting summer for local music. Check out the full review.

The THEORY OF EVERYTHING boys made a visit to the studio recently after a three year hiatus. Big Luke returned to Windsor by way of Calgary and was itchin' to get in the studio again. They laid down six bed tracks on a very fast paced session. Overdubs to continue in the coming weeks.
    • 03.12.2009 The GOLDEN EAGLES project is mixed, mastered and ready for pressing.

The boys have been working hard on their debut release and it's sounding fabulous! Release party is March 28th, 2009. More details on their Facebook page. Lot's of new projects on the go here. 10 year old singing sensation, Sabrian Vaz has been working on her debut single MISS ME, Chuck Rees has been working steadily on his Manequins Breathe project. The THEORY OF EVERYTHING boys are returning to the studio on Monday to cut a number of tracks for an upcoming EP.
    • 01.09.2009 Lot's of new things @ the Tank.

We're completing work on our new room which is 28' x 16' space with 14 foot ceilings and hardwood flooring. It's been hard work, but construction should be completed this month. In the mean time, we've added 16 channels of Apogee conversion. The Apogee AD-16X is the top of the line converter that Apogee offers. Used by top producers the world over, the AD-16X makes digital sound glorious. The analog like qualities of this converter make the Tank and it's arsenal of vintage mic-pres, eq's and compressors sound even better. I've been engineering and producing on many projects this year. Here's some of the recent highlights. Lewis Macloed has just wrapped up tracking on his upcoming East Coast Punk/Folk album. Lot's of talented musicians will be making an appearance on this album, look for it early 2009. Jamie Reaume and his Golden Eagles have been working away at their new album. Featuring huge musical hooks and a cool sense of humor this band will be at the top of your must see list this year. Chuck Rees of Mannequins Breathe has been busy working on his debut album as well. We tracked the basics with Bradford Helner and Josh Zalev and are progressing through guitar od's. Patrick Ballantyne was in tracking 4 songs for his new project. Patrick is superbly talented and his debut album recorded here last year is a breakout hit for this veteran song writer. Toronto based Whoa Nellie finished production on their debut album, it will be mixed by Peter Moore (Cowboy Junkies, Neil Young). More than a year in production it's shaping up to be one of the best alt-country albums of 2009. City Wide Vacuum are continuing work on an upcoming EP and will be returning in January to complete more overdubs before Trevor heads out to Korea at the end of January. Evelyn Falls completed work on their radio friendly rock epic and Gregg Koval re-masted his 7 previously released albums, which have been receiving enthusiastic reviews. We've done a ton of mastering work here last year. Many projects can benefit from mastering as well as an experienced set of ears. On a personal note, I'm getting the itch to write and start playing again. I'm hoping to get a project rolling early in the new year which will no doubt involve many of the talented musicians that are Shark Tank alumni. Who knows where it will lead, but I'm definitely looking forward to taking the trip. Lot's in the works for the new year kids, stay tuned. Happy New Year and all the best!

    • 08.01.2008 We've taken up residence in Walkerville.

The live room is sounding great; drums in particular have never sounded better. It must be the wood floors and high ceilings. ;0) Lot's of projects on the go; Jamie Reaume is in tracking his project and we be contributing a song from his project to the "W" compilation. Eddie has powered up the Hateburger machine and is working of completing songs that we're starting a while back. City Wide Vacuum's Pat and Trevor were in starting a new batch of tunes for an upcoming release. Sounding real good, the Vacuum's are in fine form. John from the Furniture People has been into the studio recently to add some overdubs to tunes which now entering the mixing stage of the project. Look for a release from John very soon. Vera and John from Toronto's Whoa Nellie are returning to the Tank for their last round of overdubs before mixing begins next month.

More to come, see you soon.

    • 04.01.2008 the LONE LOCUST album is in the mixing stage.

It's sounding great and the boys are anticipating getting it out to everyone; this is going to be one stellar debut album. City Wide Vacuum are coming back to the Tank to record songs for the follow up to their debut album 'PACT' recorded here last year. The talented Patrick Ballantyne's debut album is currently in the mixing stage. Patrick is a well known songwriter & producer who has penned hits for Big Sugar, the Trews and Grady. The Jim Greedies band which features a number of well known veterans of the Windsor scene are in recording their debut album.
